Ce changement de vie l'amène à repenser sa vie : les exigences de son métier et son peu d'engagement au quotidien l'ont éloigné de sa fille désormais adolescente dont elle a perdu la garde au moment du divorce. Ses anciennes relations se sont détournées d'elle et elle entretient des relations conflictuelles avec sa propre mère. La série est centrée sur une enquête par épisode, résolue grâce à un aller-retour permanent entre le travail d'enquête sur le terrain, les interrogatoires de témoins et de suspects et les examens du corps. Le tout est couplé avec une narration qui permet d'avancer d'épisode en épisode sur la dimension personnelle des personnages, leurs interactions et leur parcours.
